The Foundation for International Training (FIT) is a capacity building organization based in Toronto, Canada. FIT has worked in more than 50 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Middle East through programs financed by a number of institutions including the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and United Nations agencies and developing countries governments themselves.This experience has enabled FIT to cultivate solid expertise in all aspects of capacity development that is applied in a wide range of sectors. Over the course of 35 years, FIT has established a solid reputation for innovation in development practice and effective management and implementation of multi-stakeholder, multi-million dollar projects. We work to assist governments, civil society and the private sector build the institutions, knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of eradicating poverty. FIT has assisted governments and civil society organizations improve systems of governance by strengthening mechanisms that protect the most vulnerable; introducing proven approaches such as social accountability and active citizenship; managing collaborative studies that inform policy formulation; and building professionalism in public broadcasting and media.
