The Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors ¿ Ontario (CIQS ¿ Ontario) was founded in 1974 when the earlier Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) ¿ formed in 1959 ¿ was restructured. The CIQS ¿ Ontario is an Affiliated Member of the CIQS and so retains a direct connection with its original roots. The current structure follows the pattern employed by other Canadian Professionals ¿ Architects, Engineers, Lawyers and the like ¿ by maintaining a strong organisational and disciplinary body within the Province.In 2012, the Ontario Institute of Quantity Surveyors (OIQS) was renamed the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors ¿ Ontario (CIQS ¿ Ontario) in accordance with the national rebranding strategy.
